Make a Difference
Mental Health and Me CIC is a non-profit organisation whose activities aim to benefit individuals and the wider community affected by mental health issues. We do this by offering easily accessible resources, reducing stigma, promoting inclusivity, advocating for mental health awareness & implementing positive changes in the system. Our goal is to ensure that nobody has to face mental health challenges alone, without education, understanding or support.
Holly Hamill, Founder & Leading Director - That’s me on the right!
An Overview of Holly’s Story:
Holly has lived with mental health challenges for as long as she can remember. She experienced her first panic attack at just six years old and was formally diagnosed with acute anxiety at age 12, alongside other conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In 2025, at the age of 21, she was finally diagnosed with combined-type ADHD. Holly also lives with a number of physical disabilities, which are closely linked to her mental health conditions.
Throughout her childhood, Holly faced trauma and experiences that many adults will never encounter. School was one of the hardest parts of her journey and at one point, she was signed off for 18 months during secondary school by her CAMHS psychiatrist. Over the years, Holly has been under the care of services such as CHUMS, CAMHS, and various other mental health teams. She has lived through incredibly difficult times, including struggles with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, but is proud to now be in recovery from both.
In 2021, Holly created Mental Health and Me to advocate for others living with mental illness and neurodivergence. She wanted to offer advice, support, and understanding, not only to individuals, but also to carers, friends, and relatives. What began as a Facebook page grew into an Instagram platform in 2024, and as of May 2025, Mental Health and Me is officially a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), with Holly as its Founder and Leading Director. This a milestone she is deeply proud of after everything she’s overcome.
Alongside her advocacy work, Holly worked in the NHS for a while, including as an Apprentice Nursing Associate on a hospital ward. Unfortunately, due to her health and lack of support, she was unable to complete her dream degree - a decision that was incredibly difficult, but necessary. As well as leading Mental Health and Me CIC, Holly works part-time as a Duty First Aider within a public setting.
Outside of her work, Holly is family-orientated and passionate about music, especially UK rapper, Dave! She enjoys watching The Sidemen and other content creators, and is a huge football fan, especially of Luton Town Football Club, who she had the absolute pleasure of meeting in October 2024 and doing a social media campaign on Mental Health.
One day, Holly hopes to share her full story through a documentary, appear on platforms such as Good Morning Britain, and continue making a lasting difference in the community.
